There are only two types of houses when it comes to termites in Eastern North Carolina- those that have termites and those that are going to have termites.
There are three primary methods of termite treatment. First is the traditional liquid chemical barrier placed in the soil around your home. Second is the “baiting” system, termite traps, or termite cans. Third is the wood treatment. Our primary method of treatment is the traditional liquid soil treatment using Premise® as the primary termiticide. We use Premise® because it stops termites in at least two ways. First, it kills termites as they work into the “treated zone” as a contact and stomach poison. Second, if the termites do not remain in the treated soil long enough for a lethal dose, they carry the active ingredient back to the colony. Since termites are social insects, the active ingredient is spread to other termites until a lethal dose is built up in the colony eliminating the termite’s threat to your home. Premise® gives you the protection of the traditional barrier, but the added domino effect like the bait systems. Premise® is better than the bait system alone because there is nothing in the bait stations to attract termites to them rather than the house other than pieces of wood in contact with the soil in the station. Only after termites are attracted to the station is the active ingredient fed to the termites. Then you wait three months to two years before the termites are not a threat to your house. If termites attack your home first, a liquid treatment is usually applied to stop the attack until the baits can take effect. Why not prevent the attack to start with? The same question applies when talking about the wood treatment. Only when the termites attack the structure are they exposed to the active ingredient.
There are two types of termite treatments: preventive and corrective. Preventive treatments are done BEFORE termites attack your home. This can be done after the house is built or before your home is built. It is best to treat while your home is under construction. This is called a pretreat in our business. A liquid treatment is applied at different times during the construction. The soil under the concrete slab garages, porches, and floor systems is treated before the concrete is poured. Crawl spaces and exterior foundations are treated as they become ready during the building process. It is in the state building code that a single family dwelling be treated for termites while it is under construction. If you’re not sure, call your builder or call us. After your home is built and lived in, a preventive treatment is still possible. The price depends on its construction features like slab areas, type of porches, type of foundation and pillars, etc. An inspection and analysis will be necessary to determine these factors and price.
Our TERMITE COVERAGE PLAN is the best warranty/guarantee in the area even compared to regional and national companies. With the X-Team, you get an annual treatment, annual inspection, and repair or replacement of termite damage to the STRUCTURE of the house and the CONTENTS. All of this is renewable annually for as long as you own your home, unlike some of our competitors which require an expensive “booster” treatment every 5-7 years. And most of our competitors do not have a written damage repair warranty. They may “offer” one, but it can be very difficult to obtain. The X-Team gives you its warranty IN WRITING BEFORE WE TREAT YOUR HOME! Just another reason we are THE Pest Management Professionals.
